Siaya: Decomposed body found along River Nzoia

Residents of Lela Village in Siranga Sub-Location, Ugenya in Siaya County, were left in shock after a decomposed body was discovered along the banks of River Nzoia.

According to Maurice Juma, the village elder, locals stumbled upon the body while bathing in the river.

The body, lying face down, was in such an advanced state of decomposition that determining the gender or identity of the deceased was impossible at first glance.

Officers from Ukwala Police Station were promptly alerted and responded to the scene, taking the body to Ukwala Sub-County Hospital mortuary for identification and autopsy.

Juma has urged any families with missing relatives, especially those suspected to have drowned in River Nzoia, to visit the morgue and assist with identification.

Meanwhile, police have launched investigations to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the death.
