Kenya Women’s Premier League defending champions Kenya Police Bullets have pulled off one of the biggest signings in recent league history, officially unveiling Harambee Starlets striker Tereza Engesha ahead of the business end of the season.

Engesha arrives with a glittering résumé and a reputation forged far beyond local borders. She is the only Kenyan woman to have lifted a continental Champions League trophy, making history in 2025 with China’s Wuhan Jiangda after their dramatic triumph over Melbourne City in the AFC Women’s Champions League final. That achievement elevated her into rare company and underlined her status as one of Kenya’s most accomplished football exports.

Before her spell in China, Engesha starred in South Korea with Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angels, where her goals powered the club into the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League. She finished the group stage as joint top scorer with five goals, announcing herself as a forward capable of delivering on Asia’s biggest stages.

Her impact has been just as decisive in national colours. She scored the crucial away goal against Tunisia that secured Kenya’s first away victory in WAFCON qualifiers in 19 years. That strike proved pivotal as Harambee Starlets booked a long-awaited return to the continental finals, their first since 2016, further cementing her legacy as a big-moment player.

The move to Police Bullets represents both a homecoming and a statement of intent. She first rose to prominence at Vihiga Queens, where she dominated the KWPL with an almost ruthless consistency. She won the Golden Boot with 36 goals in the 2017/18 season, followed by 23 goals in 2018/19, and then struck 15 times in just 12 matches in 2019, spearheading Vihiga Queens to three consecutive league titles between 2017 and 2019.

Kenya Police Bullets currently top the league with 31 points.
