Suspected chicken thief killed by a mob in Bungoma

A suspected chicken thief has been lynched in Bungoma.
The middle-aged man was accosted by locals in Siaka village located in Kanduyi Constituency.
"The suspect was found in possession of eight stolen chicken," Aneriko Simiyu, a witness, said.
It is reported that the deceased is believed to be part of a gang that targets local farmers.
"His accomplices fled as soon as their gang member was cornered. They fled on a motorbike," Shadrack Nalwali, a resident, added.
The incident comes as residents decry increasing cases of theft in the area.
"The thieves target our homes especially at night. They operate as a gang," locals added.
Nyumba Kumi elders have urged locals to report such cases to the authorities instead of taking the law in their own hands.
