President William Ruto believes that his leadership is guided by a divine purpose.

According to Ruto, he had made a deliberate decision to lead the country to accelerate national development and strengthen Kenya’s economic and social progress.

Speaking during a fundraiser at Seventh Day Adventist Nkarusha in Kajiado County on Sunday, the Head of State said that the conviction motivates him to go the extra mile in carrying out his duties.

He maintained that he is committed to giving his best for Kenya’s meaningful progress.

“There must be a reason God has made me President in Kenya at a time like this, and that is why I go the extra mile; I do my very best to make sure that Kenya becomes a country that we can all be proud of,” said Ruto.

During the fundraiser, Ruto responded to critics who have questioned his extensive travel schedule, saying the criticism reflects poor planning leading to negligence and laziness among his detractors.

Also, the President defended his foreign trips, stating that the country requires hard work.

“When you look at my diary, it is full for the next six months. Daily because for this country to change, there must be hard work. We have delayed; there are countries that we were at par with 60 years ago” Ruto opined.

Ruto cited countries such as Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia, urging that Kenya should intensify its development efforts to match their progress and reach or surpass similar levels of economic advancement.

The President indicated that he will be travelling to France on Monday to represent 54 nations at the G7 meeting.

His main focus would be on how to utilize the continent's vast resources, land and human capital to drive transformation across Africa and strengthen relationships with the rest of the world.
