Three
children were on Tuesday night burned to death inside their father’s house in
Kangundo, Machakos County, in what is said to be land row involving the polygamous
family.
According to
neighbours, the father has been in conflict with one of his two wives and has
been pushing her to move out of the homestead.
It is said
the family had a meeting last Saturday, where the woman was given a notice to
move. The husband had allegedly hired goons to evict her forcefully, threatening to
demolish her house.
Area
residents reportedly opposed the man until the latest where unknown people
torched three of the man’s houses, including the one the children who are aged less
than ten were sleeping.
Confirming the
incident, Kangundo OCPD Zacharia Bitok said investigations are underway while
the bodies of the three have been moved to the Kangundo Hospital mortuary.
“We are yet to know the perpetrators of this act but we have established that the family was involved in a land row so we are investigating that,” Bitok said on Wednesday morning.
