Three National Police Reserve (NPR) officers have been shot dead by armed bandits who ambushed them on Saturday night in Madhi Qarsa Village, in Chari ward in Merti Sub-County, Isiolo County.
According to Merti Sub-County deputy county commissioner Michael Kioni, the NPR officers were guarding livestock when the bandits, believed to come from Samburu County, ambushed them.
"They had been advised to retreat, but the bandits followed them and ambushed them when they stopped somewhere to make some tea," he said.
Kioni has assured the residents that the government is making efforts to ensure the area is secure.
This comes merely a day after at least three people were killed and others injured in the neighbouring county of Meru.
