A security operation to recover guns stolen by bandits in Trans Mara, is bearing fruits as 46 guns and 81 bullets have so far been surrendered.

Narok County Commissioner George Natembeya confirmed the recovery saying the guns had been used by the bandits to terrorise residents of the area.

“We have been doing forceful disarmament in Trans Mara communities, but residents urged us not to use harsh measures, and for that reason they have surrendered guns and bullets of which I still urge them to surrender all of them,” said Natembeya.

He said that out of pressure from the Narok County government, many have resorted to seek refuge in the neighbouring counties with guns.

The commissioner insisted that security in the region will be intensified as a GSU camp is expected to be set up at Soit this week.
