Turkana University College has been shut down indefinitely after students went on rampage last week.

The students claim that the university’s lecturers are not qualified enough to teach them.

Learning at the institution that is a constituent college of Masinde Muliro university was paralysed after the angry students locked all doors with padlocks.

Acting deputy principal Prof. Setephen Odebero said the striking students were unruly and had vowed not to return to the institution until all their grievances are addressed.

He further stated the university senate has constituted a taskforce that will investigate the matter and communicate its recommendations accordingly.

Turkana university is the only such learning institution in this region.
