A Turkish-based manufacturer, Raff Military Textile, is turning its focus to Kenya as part of its broader expansion strategy in Africa, citing the country’s economic stability and growing infrastructure as key investment drivers.
The company, which specialises in military-grade textiles and uniforms, says it is seeking to establish partnerships with local firms rather than operate as a traditional exporter.
The move signals increasing interest by foreign manufacturers in
Kenya’s defence and industrial sectors.
Raff Military Textile has identified Kenya as a strategic entry point into East Africa, pointing to its relatively developed economy and evolving security framework.
The firm plans to collaborate with local stakeholders while aligning its
products with Kenya’s military standards.
Central to the planned entry is the introduction of its “Raff Elite” uniform range, designed for specialised units.
The collection includes multiple versions currently in
use and under development, targeting modern operational requirements.
Chief Executive
Officer Eray Yükseloğlu said the company’s approach goes beyond commercial
interests, positioning the expansion as part of broader Türkiye–Kenya ties.
“Kenya is a vital
partner for us. We are looking to build long-term cooperation by working with
local experts and contributing to the country’s development,” he said.
Industry observers note that Kenya has increasingly attracted foreign firms in manufacturing and defence-related supply chains, driven by its regional positioning and improving infrastructure.
However, such partnerships often depend on regulatory approvals,
local capacity and government procurement frameworks.
The entry of Raff
Military Textile adds to a growing list of international companies seeking
foothold in Kenya’s industrial sector, with a focus on localisation and skills
transfer.
Analysts say if
structured effectively, such investments could support local industry
development, though the long-term impact will depend on the extent of
technology transfer, job creation and integration with domestic enterprises.
The development
also reflects strengthening economic links between Kenya and Türkiye, as both
countries seek to expand trade and investment cooperation across multiple
sectors.
