Two cousins found dead after ingesting poisonous substance

A sombre mood has engulfed Lelkatet area in Bomet County following the tragic deaths of two teenage cousins who allegedly ingested a poisonous substance.

The victims, identified as Elisha Kibet, 14, and Amos Kiprono, 15, were found in a room where they had been staying after swallowing an unknown substance. 

According to Bomet East Sub-County Police Commander Michael Singa, Elisha Kibet was pronounced dead upon arrival at Longisa Referral Hospital, while Amos Kiprono succumbed while undergoing treatment at the same facility.

Police have launched investigations to establish the nature of the substance consumed and the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the motive behind the apparent suicide.

The bodies of the two teenagers have since been transferred to Longisa Referral Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem examinations.
