Two people were killed on Monday evening when a motorbike carrying two people collided with an oncoming TukTuk on the busy Kutus-Samson Corner road in Kirinyaga county.

According to Gichugu Sub County Police Commander Johnson Wachira, a boda boda rider was transporting two pillion passengers, a man and a woman, from Samson Corner towards Kutus when the tuk tuk they were passing had a tire burst.

The police chief reported that the motorcycle operator died instantly, and the female pillion passenger also succumbed to injuries, while the other passenger sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital.

Wachira added that the driver of the tuk tuk and their passenger were taken to Kerugoya Hospital by a Good Samaritan.

The tuk tuk was carrying shop items when the tire burst, according to Wachira.

Witnesses say the deceased, a boda boda rider, died on the spot with his pillion passenger after colliding with an oncoming Tuk Tuk that had veered off the road due to a tyre burst.

"Tuktuk ilikuwa inaenda side ya Embu, sijui kumeenda aje ikagonga akina uncle yangu," " Samuel Ngunjiri, the deceased's nephew, told Citizen.Digital.

"Huyu ni uncle yangu amegongwa, alikuwa pale Samson akapata customer akamwambia ampeleke Kutus,"
