Two injured after train and truck collision in Bungoma

Traffic was congested early Monday on the main road from Kanduyi leading into Bungoma town.

This is after an accident occurred at Pamusu junction, where the highway intersects with the railway, when a truck collided with a passing train.

According to witnesses, the truck driver continued crossing the railway line while the train was approaching, leading to the collision.

Locals rushed to the scene and began stealing goods from the truck before police officers intervened.

Residents have called on the government to construct an overpass to prevent such accidents, which they say have increased in the area.

The truck driver and the train operator are currently receiving treatment at Bungoma County Referral Hospital.
