Two minors were on Sunday found murdered under unclear circumstances in Kawakungu village, Homa Bay County.

The minors, identified as Henry Ochieng (3) and Vanteli Otieno (5), who are pupils at Achuth Primary School, are said to have been killed on Friday and their bodies dumped at River Sare.

Area Assistant Chief Faraja Malit said the suspect in the murders is a stone crusher at a quarry belonging to one of the deceased’s father.

The suspect reportedly left home on Friday morning with the two minors to go and look after animals at a grazing field, but never returned.

The administrator said family and relatives of the minors traced their whereabouts on Friday night and part of Saturday, only to find their bodies floating in the river.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the minors were strangled to death.

Mr. Malit said his office is working together with officers from Kendu Bay Police Station, where the matter was reported, in efforts to trace the suspect who is still at large.

The two bodies were transferred to Kendu Adventist Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy.
