Two police officers from Molo, Nakuru County have been arrested after a murder suspect escaped their custody under unclear circumstances while being escorted to court.

Benson Muchiri, who is accused of murder in 2019, escaped from the Nakuru Level 6 Hospital where he was receiving treatment under police watch.

He was released on a Ksh.2 million bond but was rearrested late last year after he began skipping court hearings.

Muchiri was on Tuesday found missing from the hospital where his family had taken him and left him with doctors and the police.

The two police officers who were in charge of the suspect were arrested after reporting him missing.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives in Molo are searching for Muchiri.
