In the run-up to the 2027 General Election, leaders allied to the ruling UDA party have launched a campaign aimed at sensitising Kenyans on the need for mass voter registration.

Led by nominated senators Tabitha Mutinda and Hamida Kibwana, alongside Nairobi South Ward MCA Waithera Chege, the leaders urged young people, especially women, to register as voters to enable them elect leaders of integrity in the next general election.

“I want to appeal especially to women. Nyinyi ndio mnaweka viongozi kwa viti. Those who are yet to register as voters — the youth, men and women — how can we help ourselves if we don’t urge one another to register?” said Senator Mutinda.

“It is your right, and it doesn’t matter which party you belong to. Let everyone register because we are also calling on the IEBC to focus on the grassroots.”

While drumming up support for women leadership, the legislators also expressed confidence that President William Ruto will secure a second term, citing development projects initiated under the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“Today we came here in South C to urge women and youths to register as voters because IEBC data shows there is a low turnout. That is why we are calling upon young women to be registered. We can only elect leaders through voting,” said Waithera Chege.

Senator Hamida expressed optimism that UDA’s victory was inevitable noting that recent political cooperation between President Ruto and the late Raila Odinga has fostered unity across the country.

“Raila brought unity in this country because today UDA and ODM are one, and everyone is like a family,” the leader said.

Residents who attended the forum welcomed the call, saying there is much to be proud of under the current administration.
