Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has hit out at the National Police Service (NPS) for what he termed as being used to settle political scores by the State.

Speaking at the Jubilee Party headquarters in Nairobi moments after factions linked to EALA MP Kanini Kega and former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni clashed over the party's leadership, Uhuru intimated that the police turned a blind eye to goons who caused mayhem and destruction at the grounds during the incident.

Tumewaona mara mingi mkichukua barabara ya kukosa kufuata haki," said Uhuru.

"Kupiga kijana kama huyu, kumuumiza na hana shida isipokuwa kulinda haki yake, na polisi wanasimamia watu wakiharibu mali ya mtu," he added, in reference to a security guard who was allegedly assaulted during the incident.

Uhuru added that all police officers have taken a constitutional oath to serve and protect Kenyans regardless of their social standings and political affiliations, further noting that the incident at the Jubilee Party headquarters left a bad taste in his mouth.

"Tendeni haki; mliapa ya kwamba mtailinda nchi, wananchi na katiba...tafadhali fanyeni hivyo na msikubali kutumiwa vibaya," he said.

"Mkitumiwa vibaya, mtaharibu sheria.

He likewise slammed the Kenya Kwanza administration for supposedly meddling in his party's affairs and pushing for the ouster of Kioni as Jubilee Secretary General.
