The four-time champions are currently fourth on the table with 31 points from 18 matches, trailing leaders Police by 12 points. Ulinzi Starlets, Trinity Starlets and Kibera Soccer Women complete the top five with 41, 33 and 28 points respectively.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Nyamunyamuh admitted that his side’s title hopes have faded, shifting focus to finishing the season strongly by winning their remaining three matches.
“Our aim since the league started was to win it, but as things stand, it is mathematically difficult to overtake Police at the top. We accept the situation and shift focus to winning the remaining matches, at least to secure a top-three finish,” he said.
“Heading into tomorrow’s match against Police, we will give them the respect they deserve. They are a great team with talented players and are close to winning the title for the third consecutive time.
However, we are not intimidated by their record, and I urge my players to put in extra effort and fight for maximum points.”
Nyamunyamuh added that their title ambitions were dealt a major blow after the team was deducted three points by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) last month for forfeiting a match against Soccer Assassins during a coordinated boycott.
The boycott cited systemic neglect and financial mismanagement by the federation.
“The boycott led to the deduction of three points, which derailed our push for the title. We are now focused on finishing strongly and building a solid squad ahead of next season,” he added.
In other fixtures scheduled for Saturday, Kayole Starlets will host Trinity Starlets at Police Sacco Stadium in the early kick-off of a double-header.
Kibera Soccer Women will face Bungoma Queens at Dandora Stadium.
Soccer Assassins will take on Zetech Sparks at Nyang’ori High School in Vihiga County, while Ulinzi Starlets will wrap up the round with a match against Gideon Starlets at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
