This follows an investment deal struck between the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Nairobi branch and real estate venture Fanaka Real Estate over the weekend.
The deal will see teachers under KUPPET Nairobi interested in owning property within the Nairobi metropolis, acquire land and build homes/property under huge cash discounts and customised instalment plans.
Speaking during the signing of the deal, KUPPET Nairobi branch chairman Peter Wafula said the partnership is part of the union's efforts to empower its members and advance their welfare at a time when land and property are on high demand.
"One of our key mandate is to offer assistance to members in matters economic empowerment and welfare, and one of them is land buying," Wafula said.
Under the deal, teachers will have access to property under Fanaka portfolio in areas such as Ngong, Kikuyu, Ruiru, Kamakis, Syokimau, Katani, Juja, Athi River, Kamulu, Kibiko, Malaa, Joska, among others.
KUPPET Nairobi Executive Secretary Isaac Masenge said over 5,000 members are set to benefit from the deal, adding that most of the teachers are within or below the age of 40, hence the need to invest in land and property.
"We need to bring economic empowerment to our members, apart from fighting for better pay and inclusion. This is one of the many partnerships we have struck to empower our members," he said.
The properties under this deal range from as low as KES 500,000 to KES 3M.
Fanaka Real Estate CEO Moses Muriithi welcomed the deal, saying the company is committed to working with like-minded individuals to offer them affordable deals as part of its prosperity objective.
"Our work is to ensure that KUPPET members do not struggle when it comes to land acquisition. Previously people have been fearing because of issues to do with fraud but Fanaka is here to ensure that the process is transparent and efficient from the start to the end," Muriithi said.
He revealed that so far over 10,000 Kenyans have acquired property through Fanaka, and encouraged KUPPET members in Nairobi to take up the offer to acquire their own.
Under the partnership, teachers who purchase property in cash will receive a discount on properties covered under the deal.
KUPPET Nairobi has assured its members that it will vet the properties under the partnership to allay any fears of fraud and ensure they get good deals.
The union looks to make the deal longterm to have more members acquire property.
KUPPET is one of the largest unions representing teachers in Kenya. It has been in existence for 25 years.
Fanaka Real Estate was started in 2016 to help Kenyans invest in land and property.
