Woman allegedly stabs boyfriend to death during domestic dispute in Mombasa

Police in Nyali, Mombasa County, have arrested a woman accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend at his home in Vescon One Estate.

The woman, identified as Joan, allegedly stabbed the victim, Ian Mureithi, following a domestic dispute.

Neighbours and Vescon One Estate community leadership say the suspect arrived at the victim's home late at night and a few moments later, a domestic dispute arose. Intervention by one of the late Ian Mureithi’s friends bore no fruit.

Doreen Gitare, the late Ian's cousin, said: “We were told walikuwa wanafight alafu huyo kijana was trying to separate them but akashindwa ndio akakuja kuita the security guard.”

Col. (Rtd.) Vincent Omondi, Vescon One Estate Chairman added: “They had a fight with the late and there was a gentleman in the same house. It's that man who came out and said that there were two people fighting, one holding a knife.”

The victim was stabbed in the chest and died on the spot. Nyali Sub-County Police Commander Davidson Muga says a suspect has been arrested and is held at Mwatamba Police Station

The witness has recorded a statement to assist detectives in their investigations.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned on Monday.
