Speaking to Citizen Digital, Spencer said they have been training hard at the residential training camp in Kasarani polishing up on any weaknesses in the all departments while studying their opponents and is confident they will match their opponents when the tournament begins on Saturday at the Nyayo National Stadium.
“We are the host and we must show the world what we are made of playing at home comes with the pressure of delivering in any every game but we are ready because we are putting in all the hard work in training and I am sure we have what it takes to win the world cup,” said Spencer.
The England-based Spencer, a student at the London School of Economics, at the same time says he is impressed with the coaching tactics of veteran tactician Curtis Olago whom he says is making a great impact in improving the players’ tactical skills.
He is a gifted tactician with a lot of experience in the game. He demands a lot from the players and always wants the best for each and every time we are very happy with the impact he is making in us,” added Spencer.
Kenya is in pool B alongside Spain, Samoa and Hong Kong China and he says it won’t be easy to sail through and every game will be like a final.
“We have to take every game as a final because it is a tough pool but with perfection in every department I am confident we will succeed and make Kenyans proud,” Spencer told Citizen Digital.
Winners will gain promotion to the World Rugby U20 Championship in 2024.
