An Iranian man who has been living in solitary and is dubbed the “World dirtiest man” has died at the age of 94.

According to a report issued by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Amou Haji took his last breathe on Sunday, October 23, in the Village of Dejgah in Iran’s southern province of Fars.

The world record holder, never showered for more than 60 years for fear of getting ill when he came into contact with water.

His death comes a few months after he was forcefully washed by the Villagers.

"For the first time a few months ago, villagers had taken him to a bathroom wash,” stated IRNA report

"Not long after, he fell ill and finally, on Sunday… he gave up his life,” the report added

Haji was always surviving on the fate of his villagers who built him a cinder block to act as his shelter. This followed their sympathy for Haji’s previous shelter which was a hole resembling a grave that he believed kept him attached to the ground.

A specialists’ evaluation earlier this year revealed that he was healthy despite his weird lifestyle and his death is due to old age.

Haji’s “World Dirtiest Man” title might now be passed to Kailash Singh, 67, from India who has not showered for more than 30 years.
