Veteran tactician Zedekiah Otieno is set to be
officially unveiled as the new Posta Rangers head coach on Tuesday at Thogoto
Teachers Training College grounds, marking a significant return to the club at
a critical stage of the 2025–26 season.
Otieno, popularly known as “Zico,” was appointed on Monday, stepping into a side that has struggled for consistency after a promising start.
His arrival signals a fresh attempt to stabilize the
“mailmen,” who currently sit 12th in the Kenyan Premier League standings with
31 points from 27 matches.
As part of the technical bench reshuffle,
Collins Omondi will step down from his interim head coach role and return to
his previous position as assistant coach.
He will work alongside Edwin Mwaura in a
revamped setup expected to support Otieno’s leadership.
A highly respected figure in regional
football, Otieno brings over two decades of coaching experience, including
multiple stints with Gor Mahia and a successful spell at KCB FC, where he
guided the team to a second-place finish in 2021.
He most recently handled Tanzania Prisons FC
before returning to Kenya.
Posta Rangers’ season has been defined by
instability, having begun strongly under Sammy Omollo before a mid-season dip
saw them slide down the table.
Omollo departed in November 2025 to join APS Bomet, leaving Omondi to steady the ship on an interim basis.
With just seven wins, ten draws, and ten
losses so far and also having exited the FKF cup Posta Rangers now turn to
Otieno’s experience and tactical discipline to reignite their campaign and
steer them away from further decline.
