Bernard Ngugi replaces embattled Ken Tarus as Kenya Power boss

Bernard Ngugi has been appointed as the new Kenya Power CEO following the ouster of Ken Tarus over graft allegations in July last year.

Mr. Ngugi, who was formerly the General Manager, Supply Chain, was selected following a competitive recruitment process, the Board said on Tuesday.

“We believe that Mr Ngugi will see the Company through an important stage of its development and growth as we work to diligently implement all our plans to strengthen the company and the commercial aspects of our business,” Chairman Amb. Mahboub Maalim said.

His appointment took effect on October 28, 2019.

The new CEO takes over from Eng. Jared Othieno who had been appointed in acting capacity.

Prior to his appointment, Mr Ngugi was the Company’s General Manager in charge of Supply Chain.

He has worked for over 30 years at Kenya Power in different capacities and holds a MBA in Finance and Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting.
