Real estate firms Heri Homes and Finsco Africa on Saturday kicked off construction of a new multimillion housing project dubbed the Legacy Ridges.

Legacy Ridges Chairman Kimani Kimotho, who also serves as the CEO of Heri Homes, said construction of the 384 apartment units is on following the successful launch of the maisonette project on the same property in February this year.

The new project sits on a 100-acre property in Ruiru town opposite the Nova Pioneer Girls off the Thika Superhighway, and primarily targets low and middle-income earners.

According to the company, the apartment units comprise two-bedroom units, which will cost Ksh.3.5 million, and three-bedroom units costing Ksh.4.3 million.

Kimotho said the idea to sell the houses off plan is because it gives customers an opportunity to re-design their houses to suit their needs, besides also giving them some financial options in terms of payment.

“This new project is in line with our promise of providing Kenyans with affordable houses. These houses are strategically located, making them ideal for Kenyans intending to commute to the city daily,” he stated.

He added that 90 units have so far already been sold, with the company hoping to offload the remaining ones in the next few months.

Overall, Legacy Ridges - which is expected to be completed within two years - will add an extra 4,000 homes to the economy.

The project, which is being carried out in phases, will comprise 2,800 units that will include two and three-bedroom apartments, while the rest will be maisonettes complete with servant quarters.

Finsco Africa CEO John Mwaura said the three-bedroom maisonettes and bungalows would include a lounge, dining area and a kitchen.

They would also have inbuilt wardrobes, a yard, a three-bedroom master ensuite and car parking.

Mwaura, who also doubles up as the Legacy Ridges CEO, said the three-bedroom maisonettes are going for Ksh.8.5 million, while the four-bedrooms start at Ksh.9.7 million.

“In complementing the government’s efforts of affordable housing agenda, we are focused on real estate solutions that are in line with the customer satisfaction that will deliver practical solutions like having stable families and community, that starts with every homestead owning a home,” noted Mwaura.
