JKIA, Moi airport awarded certifications for health, safety, and environmental management

The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Moi International
Airport (MIA), and the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) Head Office have been
awarded ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System and ISO 45001:2018
Occupational Health & Safety Management System certifications, reflecting
their enhanced dedication to occupational health and safety, as well as their
compliance with environmental regulations.
According to KAA, the certifications, granted by the United
Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), highlight its leadership role in
environmental stewardship and workplace safety.
The ISO 14001:2015 certification is provided for organisations
that comply with environmental laws and have systems that improve overall
sustainability.
On the other hand, the ISO 45001:2018 certification focuses on
improving employee safety, reducing workplace risks, and creating safer working
conditions.
"By attaining these ISO standards, KAA has successfully
integrated Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) principles into the daily
operations of its airports and headquarters, setting a benchmark for effective
management and continual improvement," KAA said.
"The Authority will undergo regular surveillance audits
to ensure ongoing compliance and enhancement of its EHS performance."
