Kenya pens market access deal with US lobby group

The government has signed a memorandum of understanding with an American business lobby group to bridge the investment gap.

Through the MoU, the Corporate Council on Africa working (CCA) with the Ministry of Trade will create linkages for US based businesses to get market access to Kenya through mutual cooperation.

Trade Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed says the government and CCA will share information that will enable both Kenyan and US businesses grow investment opportunities.

The MoU signifies an important milestone for Corporate Council on Africa, the leading US business association focused solely on connecting business interests on the continent.

The partnership will complement efforts by the government to get access for Kenyan product to America under AGOA.

“This MoU is a great opportunity for us to work more closely to promote trade and investment in Kenya. The Corporate Council has always been a champion for U.S.-Kenya business and we look forward to doing even more with them,” Mr Mohamed said.

The 2-year MoU encompasses business collaboration activities between Kenya and the US.

The ministry will work with CCA to promote Kenyan business and investment opportunities in the US.
