KRA Says SGR Contractor Exempted From Local Taxes

Questions are now emerging over the sincerity of the government's intention to involve local firms in the construction of the Mombasa-Nairobi standard gauge railway line. This is following the Kenya Revenue Authority's announcement that it will exempt the project's contractor – China Roads And Bridges Corporation from paying taxes on imported inputs to the project. And as Bella Genga reports, the Kenya Private Sector Alliance says the move presents an unfair competitive advantage to Chinese companies that will participate in the multi billion shillings project.
