Migori traders call for County fund to expand businesses

Business owners in Migori County have asked the county government to create special fund to support traders in the region.

The traders want a special fund where they can access credit to finance business expansion.

Rongo Small Business Association Chairman Joel Odhoch said traders are yet receive any form of financial support from the county government, further accusing the county of giving raw deal to the traders.

Mr Odhoch said there was need for the county government through the ministry of trade to come up with a revolving fund that can be borrowed by traders.

Traders in the county have further decried the high levies and taxes charged by the county government, arguing it was counterproductive for sustainable growth.

At the same time traders in Rongo want the police to beef up security owing to the rising number of insecurity cases in the town.
