Nairobi Expressway readies for operations, seeks toll attendants

The operator of the Nairobi Expressway is preparing for the running of the toll highway as it embarks on a fresh recruitment drive.

The project’s proprietor is expected to onboard 36 toll attendants and two accounts clerks.

The individuals sort will initially be tasked with the collection of payments from customers and the issuance of receipts and tickets alongside the maintenance of cash-payment records.

The attendants will later be trained to fill up managerial positions in the long-term.

Eligible candidates for the toll attendants post must me degree or diploma holders, have basic computer skills and aged between 20 and 35 years.

Meanwhile, applicants for the Accounts Clerk post are required to have degree in Commerce or Business Management.

The Expressway operator is receiving applications to the pair of posts until September 15 through the email nairobi.expressway.hr@outlook.com.

The Nairobi Expressway is scheduled to commence operations by mid-2022 and will usher the return of tolls on Kenyan roads for the first time in nearly five decades.

At the same time, the nearly 27 kilometre stretch will be the first road in Kenya financed under the public private partnership (PPP) model.

China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) has been tasked with construction works for the project which comprises of four and six lane motorways and 10 interchanges.

Costs for the road which runs from the Mlolongo township to the James Gichuru inter-change on Waiyaki Way have been tabulated at Ksh.61.6 billion ($560 million).
