Samuel Kimani takes over as new NSE Chairman

Jamii Bora Chief Executive Samuel Kimani has been elected as the new Chairman of the Nairobi Securities Exchange Board.

Kimani takes over from former KenGen Managing Director Eddy Njoroge who retired on June 2nd.

He will serve for a three year term aided by Bob Karina who was re-elected as the vice chairman.

“His leadership skills, experience and wealth of knowledge will be instrumental in driving the NSE’s aggressive Strategic Plan aimed at developing the Kenyan Capital Markets and growing the NSE into being “a leading Securities Exchange in Africa,” Mr Karina said of the appointment.

Mr Kimani holds a BSc (Civil Engineering) and an MBA, both from the University of Nairobi. He is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya and an alumnus of the Advanced Management Program of Harvard University.

Commenting on his election, he said he looked forward to enhancing and deepening investor participation on the bourse.

“I am very confident that in line with our Strategic Plan, the Exchange will continue to further entrench its vision through continuous product innovation and technology enhancement,” he said

Shareholders also re-elected Sharon Maviala and Hosea Kimutai Kili as Non-Executive Independent Directors, and elected a new entrant Paul Vollant.
