Taking to Twitter, Njoroge said while serving at CBK for eight 'intense' years, "We faced massive challenges with courage and diligence."
He signed off by putting a link to a song by Brothers in arms title 'in dire straits' and said, "Thank y'all."
Former Treasury PS Kamau Thugge takes over from Njoroge, who accomplished several feats at the helm of CBK, including overseeing the demonetisation of Kenya's currency in 2019 in a bid to fight corruption.
The outgoing governor was appointed by former President Uhuru Kenyatta on June 2, 2015, and assumed office effective 19 June 2015 after vetting by the National Assembly.
His successor Dr Kamau has also undergone intensive vetting by parliamentarians and was thereafter appointed by President William Ruto on Wednesday for a period of four years.
He is set to assume office on Monday next week.
