Felix Orinda, popularly known as DJ Evolve, had his life completely changed when in January 2020, while deejaying in a popular nightclub in Nairobi, he was allegedly shot by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.

Evolve was left bedridden, losing his speech as his nervous system was affected by the gunshot wound he sustained.

What followed were court battles that saw Babu Owino eventually acquitted in 2023, after the court ruled that the prosecution did shoddy work in its investigations.

Nonetheless, Babu agreed to take care of Evolve's medical bills, even as the DJ himself said he did not see the MP shoot him.

Evolve has since regained his speech, parts of his body are now working, and his physiotherapy sessions are helping him recover.

In an interview with Citizen Digital, Evolve revealed his recovery journey, what he is currently doing to sustain himself, and why he will always love deejaying as a career.
