Kenyan musician-cum-businesswoman Esther
Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, has now revealed that she could be the
highest paid local artist at the moment.
Akothee, in an interview with YouTuber Presenter
Ali, said she now charges $20,000 (approx. Ksh.2.3 million) for a performance.
According to the vocal musician, her rate
card has risen over the years to reach that level because she brings value to
every event or concert she is booked for.
“Right now my rate card is $20,000. It’s
value for money, I bring value. I think I’m the number one earning
artist in Kenya right now,” she said.
The ‘Abebo’ hitmaker further confirmed that she
is indeed no longer in a relationship with Nelly Oaks.
“I will never announce a breakup if I have not
walked through it. In a breakup, everybody is hurt and a lot of people are
struggling…even the biggest of the biggest celebrities,” she said.
“Relationship is not something you can
ignore because it’s a matter of the heart…according to me, I had walked out of
the relationship in December. So right now I’m single.”
