A Class 7 boy has reportedly drowned while trying to save his dog.

The dog is said to have slipped into a swollen Kapkores river while chasing a hare.

Confirming the incident, Chebara Location Chief Christine Chumo said the 12-year-old boy could not be saved on time as the waters swept him several metres away from the river banks.

“It is alleged that the dog was chasing the hare and unfortunately slipped into the river. So the boy got worried and tried to save the dog but slipped into the river as well and drowned, even though the dog crossed over to the other side of the river,” she said.

Chumo added that the deceased’s body had been taken to Molo sub-county hospital mortuary.
