A court in Nyeri has reinstated Isiolo County Assembly Clerk, Salad Boru Guracha, after his abrupt removal from office by the County Assembly Service Board.
The clerk was removed following a feud within the county government, pitting Governor Abdi Guyo against County Assembly Speaker Mohammed Roba.
Nyeri Employment and Labour
Relations Court Judge, Justice Onesmus Makau, issued orders stopping any person
from discharging the functions of the clerk's office pending the hearing and
determination of the matter.
The County
Assembly Service Board had, in June, sent Guracha on compulsory leave to pave
the way for a pending debate on the impeachment of the governor. Guracha was
ousted for cancelling a public participation session convened by the County
Assembly to plan the governor’s removal.
Guracha argued
that due process was not followed, claiming he was unilaterally suspended by
the Speaker.
The matter is
scheduled for an inter-party hearing on June 25th.
