D’Banj reveals what he thinks of Jose Chameleone

Legendary Nigerian musician Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo, better known by his stage name D’Banj, disclosed he thinks Ugandan music bigwig Jose Chameleone is an inspiration to many artistes.

D’Banj, who on Thursday addressed a conference at Serena Hotel in Kampala, showered a praises on Ugandan musicians, but confessed he did not know that BET award winner Eddy Kenzo was Ugandan.

“Chameleone is a great inspiration to many artistes,” he stated before adding: “I know Eddy Kenzo though I didn’t know he was from Uganda.”

What about the newest celebrity father in town, Bebe Cool?

“Bebe Cool is like a father in the music industry. He has been around and I always watched him before I joined the industry. He’s highly respected.”

D’Banj’s tribute did not stop with Bebe; Koko master also shared his opinion on gifted duo, Radio and Weasel.

“I knew Radio and Weasel way back in 2011 and I knew they are talented, in fact they should be here (at the press conference). I also know Navio,” intimated the pop star.

The internationally recognised singer nonetheless advised Ugandan and African artistes in general to be original.

He narrated how his widely acclaimed “Oliver Twist” hit was first produced and appreciated in Nigeria before it swept the international scene.

“I first made my music locally before the likes of BBC, Kanye West and many other international platforms, figures recognised me.”

Citing the rapport created between the Nigerian and South African music industry, the flashy singer urged other African artistes to borrow a leaf from the two states.

“There is already a strong synergy between Nigerian and South African musicians in which South African artistes can easily come and perform in Nigeria and the vice versa. I hope that this unity will extend towards other African countries,” he said.

D’banj further encouraged upcoming musicians to have faith in themselves. He reasoned that if it is one’s destiny, God would take them from nowhere to international popularity.

The wealthy artiste on Friday November 13 performed at Club Guvnor in Kampala in an event dubbed “Art of Tropical Luxury” party where he unveiled Ciroc Pineapple, a new brand of Ciroc Vodka.
