Events Corner:  Brace yourselves for these weekend gigs

It is payday weekend, and you’ve got so many ways to usher in the new month. Here are some of the events taking place this weekend:

Hot 96 Thika Mini-Extravaganza

All roads will lead to St. Patricks Ground, Thika for Hot 96 Mini-Extravaganza on Saturday.

The fest, which will kick off at 10 am to 6 pm, will see electric performances by artistes Wyre, Timmy Wele Wele, Vivian, Rapdamu, Kristoff among others.

Emcees of the day will be Hot 96’s Rapcha the Sayantist, Shixx Kapyenga and MC Philipo.

Charges are Sh500 at the gate.

Mwafaka Awards at KICC

The annual Mwafaka Awards will on Sunday go down at Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC).

The gospel fest will see performances by East Africa’s top gospel acts. Kenya’s DJ Mo will be on the decks. Sponsors of the event are: Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) and Performers Rights Society of Kenya (PRiSK)

Esagasaga Night

Carnivore will be the place to be on Friday evening for the much awaited Esagasaga Night.

The fest starts at 6pm till dawn. Performances will be by celebrated Kisii musicians: Bonyakori Kirwano, Mr Ong’eng’o, Kwasa Kwasa Band, Embaramba, Obokanao, Nyamecheo Juni among others.

Esagasaga Night aims to embrace Kisii culture by sampling Kisii delicacies such as obokima bwobori, amatoke, ebisukari, amanyabwari, enderema, chinsaga among others.

Charges are Sh500 at the gate.

Ray C in Diani, Malindi

Top Tanzanian singer Ray C will make her music comeback this weekend by holding major performances slated for the Kenyan Coast.

Friday night, the artiste will perform at Bidi Badu, Diani. Later she will proceed to Club Pata Pata in Malindi for her comeback event. Sunday, the Mama Nitilie hit-maker will be at Mombasa’s Qwetu Beach to wrap her coastal tour.

Sport Pesa Super Eight Bonanza

Sport lovers will have something to look forward to on Sunday – The Sport Pesa Super Eight tournament. The tourney will go down at Nyayo National Stadium.

The final will see Kiambu Youth lock horns with Technical University of Kenya. Local acts: Nonini, Kristoff and Big Pin among others are ecpected to light up the crowd.
