First-time MP Peter Salasya flaunts new luxurious vehicle
Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter
Salasya has unveiled his new Toyota Land Cruiser V8 model, and announced that
he is returning the one he has been using which he borrowed from former Defence
Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa
The first-time MP on Wednesday took to social
media to express his jubilation after acquiring the coveted big-budget machine,
barely three months after being elected.
“Finally KDK037 is out and officially handed.
Thank you people of #MumiasEast for the amazing trust and love you have in me.
I will serve you tirelessly in realizing your dream, and all Kenyans through my
committee of Agriculture, Regional Development alongside regional integration,”
he wrote on Twitter.
From claiming to have Ksh.500 in his pockets
during the swearing-in ceremony to owning the close to Ksh.7 million SUV, the
youthful legislator thanked his constituents for the opportunity to be an MP,
noting that the new vehicle should be deemed the people’s car.
“Hii ni gari yenu watu wa Mumias East, sio
yangu, ni yenu. Mkiona mnaona Mumias East's future governor,” MP Salasya said
in the video.
This comes months after the legislator startled
Kenyans by revealing that he did not have a decent house during campaigns and
that his supporters had built him one.
The MP went further to shake up the public
with claims that he had taken his first flight to Nairobi during his
swearing-in ceremony.
Salasya was elected on a Democratic Action
Party-Kenya (DAP-K) party ticket, being his second stab at the seat after he tasted
defeat for the same seat in 2017.
He previously also said his campaigns had
been funded by his political party's boss, former CS Wamalwa, as well as other
well-wishers.
