Hotbed of terror? More like hotbed of medals
It seems Kenyans have not let Cable News Network (CNN) off the hook for calling the county a “hotbed of terror” in the run up to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.
Nearly two months after the global news giant made the gaffe, Kenyans ‘corrected’ them by stating the country is a hotbed of athletic talent.
As the country welcomed back #TeamKenya from the recently concluded World Athletics Championships, Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) used the hash tags #HotbedOfMedals and #HotbedofChampions.

The sentiments were also expressed offline as the some of the vehicles picking the champions from their Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) were emblazoned ‘Hotbed of Medals’.
In mid-August CNN’s Global Executive Vice President and Managing Director Tony Maddox flew to Nairobi personally to deliver an apology to President Uhuru Kenyatta for the statement.
Maddox, who looks after CNN’s global editorial policy, admitted that the description of Kenya as a ‘hotbed of terror’ was both ill-fitting and undeserved.
Kenyans on social media have on numerous occasions blasted the news network for their negative depiction of Kenya.
