I am not ‘begging’ on social media, Bahati tells fans

Groove award-winning gospel singer Bahati has distanced himself from ‘crooks’ that are using his name to swindle fans of their hard-earned cash on social media.

In a lengthy social media post, St. Theresa’s boys’ high school alumnus revealed that some unscrupulous persons were impersonating him – using his name and image to line their pockets under the guise of charity drives.

According to Bahati, the imposters have created fake Facebook pages unnamed ‘Bahati Musiq’ and ‘Bahati Kenya’.

“..(the accounts) posted a number to the public (saying) that I am in need of money to support disabled children….Please note this is not me!!! I have only one account “Bahati”. Please help other Kenyans know that (I) am not the one begging money; (these are) just impersonators,” he wrote.

In addition to fraudulently raising money, Bahati says the impersonator claims to be a manager of EMB records.

“I have received complaints from more than 30 upcoming artists (who have) been conned by different fake Facebook accounts…who pretend to be managers of EMB records,” he complained.

The Machozi singer warned fans against following the posts on those fake pages, adding that they should also sensitize others about the impersonators.
