Jalang'o re-hires worker accused of stealing money from his car

Jalang'o re-hires worker accused of stealing money from his car

Lang'ata Member of Parliament (MP) Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o

Lang'ata MP Felix 'Jalang'o' Odiwuor has taken back the farmhand who allegedly stole Ksh.2 million from his car while cleaning it.

Jalang'o took to social media to share a video clip where he was interviewing his now re-hired worker Eli Khumundu, the man who allegedly colluded with a colleague to steal the money.

In the video, Jalang'o said he made the decision to re-hire Eli after he apologised and regretted stealing the money.

Together with the other farmhand identified as Litiema, the two who worked at the MP's compound were cleaning one of his cars when they found the money in the back seat of the car.

It was during the campaigns leading to the 2022 general election, and Jalang'o was looking to dethrone former MP Nixon Korir. It said the money was meant for campaigns.

Eli and Litiema fled with the money, which they then claimed was Ksh.1 million. But in the interview Jalang'o hinted it was more than that.

" Why did you lie that you stole Ksh.1 million yet it was more than that?" Jalang'o asked.

Eli said since it was Litiema who took the money, he only gave him Ksh.500k, which he said was half of what he had taken away.

Immediately after fleeing, Jalang'o took to social media to announce that the two had stolen from him and asked Kenyans to trace them and report them to the police.

In the period that followed, Eli came out to beg for forgiveness and returned the remaining money after spending some.

He kept asking Jalang'o to forgive him and take him back, and indeed the MP seems to have done exactly that.

"I promise I was tempted then but I have learnt my lesson. I will not do anything like that again, it was the work of the devil but I am not a thief. Those were temptations and I will not go back there again," Eli told Jalang'o.

During that period, his social media presence had also significantly grown as Jalang'o would occasionally share videos with him, but he says since the incident people unfollowed him and he wants to start afresh.
