Actress Catherine Kamau, popularly known as Kate Actress has finally bowed to pressure and directly apologised to Kenyans after making rather demeaning comments in the heat of an Instagram argument.

Trouble started on Tuesday evening when her fans began accusing her of fence-sitting and not providing a clear stance on the contentious Finance Bill, 2024.

In an attempt to shoot down the allegations of complicity, Kate ended up in an exchange with fans who accused her of using taxpayers money in her recent USA trip.

When someone commented, "We reject na mlikuwa White House na yeye (President Ruto)? Mbona hukusema then on his face?" Kate responded, "Mpigie umuulize his number is now public."

At that juncture, someone else appeared to come to her defense, telling people to go slow on her as she did not 'borrow them any money to travel to the US'.

Kate then responded, "Hata hawana hio pesa!"

Once again, Kate would shut down yet another fan telling him, "Hamna pesa please!"

The actress' decision to tell of her denigrators was probably informed by her impatience with people accusing her of fence-sitting and not providing an unequivocal stand on the Finance Bill.

After intense day-long pressure from social media users, the actress has now seemingly backtracked, appearing to eat the humble pie and clarify her earlier comments.

After failing to convince fans that she meant good, and even after repeatedly sharing the Occupy Parliament posters, Kate still found it hard to reconcile with fans, forcing her to publicly apologise and regret the reckless wording.

The statement read: "I want to sincerely apologize for the insensitive comment I made on my Instagram page. After much reflections, I realize that it was a reflex response to the false allegations about my recent trip to the US being government-sponsored. I reiterate that it wasn't."

"However, I do acknowledge that I should have responded in a more respectful way. I remain committed to using my platform to advocate for all our fundamental rights as a people, and will continue to voice my support for the betterment of our country."

Even after the initial backlash, the 'Disconnect' star continued to push for the rejection of the Finance Bill, constantly sharing the 'Occupy Parliament' posters as well as pushing the upcoming protests in Mombasa and Nyeri.

In her last Instagram post, Kamau wrote, "My stand has been and still is... #RejectFinanceBill."

Kate became the latest Kenyan celebrity to be censured for their perceived obliviousness in matters regarding the recent upsurge in youth activism and Finance Bill protests.

Eddie Butita, Andrew Kibe, Abel Mutua and more have also been questioned and asked to openly state their positions on the burning matter.
