Kenyans slam Tourism ministry for rolling out the red carpet for King Charles at Nairobi National Park

Kenyans have slammed authorities for laying out a red carpet for King Charles III and the Queen Consort Camilla right in a dust-ridden game park.

The carpet, a slender stretch of red cloth covering a rather insignificant part of the game park, became a heated topic of discussion with many people unable to see the sense in the move which some quarters deemed a little too deferential.

The carpet was laid out at the Nairobi National Park where Tourism Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua played host to Their Majesties.

Igniting the discussion on X (formerly Twitter) one user wrote, "Raise Park fees to buy carpets for the King and Queen of colonizers. Makofi!"

Reacting to the photo, user @edubudaboss wrote, "These people have a castle where they go hunting every year so they are familiar with dirt paths alafu the embeciles in the ministry of tourism lay down a carpet in the park like the brainless fools they are!"

Another user @kamauthegge wrote, "This is plain stupidity. Of what use is that ka tiny carpet? Kenyans are a total embarrassment! Bending so low for people who brutalised you not so long ago! King Charles was actually spotted just recently walking alone in bushy fields in Scotland without all the nonsense Kenyan authorities are putting up!"

On her part, user @shellyO wrote, "Lmao I terribly hate this red carpet tradition we have in this country cause what’s this now??? Surely!"

While sharing on X, CS Alfred Mutua said that he was honored to have had the privilege to host the King and his wife at “The World's only Wildlife Capital”.

"Our discussions centered on the incredible array of wildlife they had the opportunity to observe during a memorable game drive, as well as the extensive wildlife conservation initiatives spearheaded by the Kenyan Government," he wrote.
