Khaby Lame dethrones Charlie D Amelio as most followed TikTok star

Khaby Lame becomes most followed Tiktoker.

Senegalese-born social media personality Khaby Lame has overtaken Charlie D’ Amelio to become the most followed person on TikTok.

Khaby, who is known for his TikTok videos where he silently mocks overly complicated life hacks now has 142.5 million followers and 2.3 B likes on the social media platform.

Charlie D’Amelio, who held the title of the most followed Tiktoker for 2 years now has 142.2 million followers and 11.0B likes.

She began posting videos on TikTok in 2019 and her videos gained lots of attention. She would upload dance videos to trending songs on the social media App and shortly amassed over 1,000,000 followers.


For Khaby, he started his Tik Tok journey after he was laid off during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He rose to popularity with his video reactions and responses in the form of TikTok's "duet" and "stitch" features to videos portraying overly complicated "life hacks", in which he performs the same task in a simple way, without saying anything.

"The pandemic had just started, and I was bored with a lot of time on my hands so I started making videos on TikTok," he told Forbes in 2020. 

In 2021, he surpassed Addison Rae to become the second most-followed Tiktoker.
