Lamar Odom regains conciousness

Former American NBA star Lamar Odom has regained consciousness.

On Tuesday, the ex-Lakers basket baller was driven to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas after he was found unresponsive at a brothel, Love Ranch CatHouse in Nevada.

The brothel’s owner and spokesman, Dennis Hof said that Lamar chose two women to accompany him in a VIP suite on his first visit to the brothel.

Lamar had said that he had done cocaine before his arrival, and Hof said they saw him drink alcohol and take as many as 10 supplements sold as “herbal Viagra.”

Hof said Lamar became upset Sunday, following a phone call where his ex’s “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” show was mentioned.

He was however generally in a good mood, even suggesting that he stay an entire week at the brothel.

However, Lamar was later found unconscious with white and reddish substances coming from his nose and mouth at around 3:20 p.m., where was intubated and driven to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas.

Khloe Kardashian, his estranged wife, rushed to his side that night and since then, friends, teammates and loved ones, including his two children, have visited and posted messages on social media asking for prayers.

On Wednesday, Reverend Jesse Jackson said Lamar was on life support.

Lamar Odom is now said to be speaking and has even given a thumbs up from his hospital bed just days after his critical comatose condition.

Alvina Alston, publicist for JaNean Mercer, Odom’s maternal aunt and godmother, said that Odom spoke a greeting and gave a thumbs-up Friday morning, his first communication since being hospitalized in Las Vegas.

“He woke up and he spoke,” Alston said.

Khloe said that he was able to say “hi” to her.

Odom’s college coach, Jim Harrick, told CNN’s ‘Anderson Cooper 360’ that Khloe told him she reached down to Lamar on Friday morning and told him she loved him. Lamar blinked.” Harrick said.

The former Rhode Island coach said doctors were taking “some things” Harrick implied they were breathing tubes and taking him off kidney dialysis out of Odom on Friday afternoon.

“He is awake now,” Harrick said. “So that’s probably the most encouraging news we’ve had since it all started.”

Harrick also praised Khloe Kardashian for sticking by his side as a crowd; well-wishers, crowded the hospital.

Meanwhile, Mercer had issued her own statement on Friday to thank the public for its support, saying they’re family was focused on Lamar’s “complete healing.”

“No words can express the overwhelming gratitude we feel for the outpouring of support from around the world,” the statement issued on Friday said.

Alston said Mercer is the sister of Odom’s late mother who helped raise him in New York, where she still lives.

Mercer and other family members are now in Las Vegas.

The statement said: “His complete healing is paramount and our primary focus.

Lamar is not in a coma and is using a mask to breathe, but has serious damage to his vital organs, the former NBA star’s mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, told Access Hollywood on Friday.

Authorities are still retracing Odom’s $75,000, three-day visit to the brothel that started late afternoon Saturday, with blood test results to determine what caused his medical episode still pending.

Lamar Odom’s children have also spoken out.

In a statement Thursday, his children Destiny Odom, Lamar Odom Jr. and their family asked for prayers.

‘Thanks for your outpouring of prayers and support for our dad. We are here with our family and friends,” the statement said.

“We appreciate everyone respecting our privacy at this time. We ask for your continued prayers.
