Lamar takes huge step to recovery: walking on his own

Athlete Lamar Odom’s health, which has been greatly unstable for the last two months, is now improving and he has reportedly walked on his own.

According to US weekly, the former NBA star’s progress is slow but hopeful.

“He gets better a little bit every day,” a source told the popular tabloid.

“He took a few steps without the walker. It’s very slow and he’s supposed to go to the rehab any day now.”

The 36-year-old former NBA star was hospitalized in October after he was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel.

Toxicology report later showed that the athlete had traces of cocaine and sexual performance-enhancing drugs in his system, which led to his hospitalization.

Odom’s journey has been a long one.

In November, in an interview on the Today Show, Lamar’s estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, said that doctors initially warned her Odom only had a few hours to live.

“They told me that he had four hours,” Kardashian, told Today’s Natalie Morales. “It’s a horrible call to get. Getting to the hospital and knowing he’s in a coma and having to run these tests or make medical decisions, it’s terrifying.”

In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres on that same month, Kardashian said his recovery is still in the early stages.

“He has such a long way to go. He’s learning how to walk again and feed himself again and put sentences together, and cognitively there’s a lot. It’s a long, long road ahead.”

Earlier this month, a source disclosed to ET that, “He’s not doing great.”

That’s not all, the basketball star still needs assistance to walk and his speech is not up to par.

“His speech is still slurred and he can barely walk on his own yet. He forgets a lot of people’s names, sometimes even his own. He definitely has some memory loss,” the source added.

Even though Kardashian has since moved on with another boyfriend, Houston Rockets NBA player, James Harden, she still frequents the hospital.
