Netflix announces its first Ugandan film ‘The girl in the yellow jumper’

Ugandan filmmaker Loukman Ali produced and directed the film, which will premiere on the worldwide streaming service on December 26.
Loukman Ali posted a photo of the Ugandan film on Instagram two days ago, captioning it "the 25th of December! On Netflix."
Ali first announced the news in November, but it wasn't until two days ago that the release date was confirmed.
“I can’t believe this is going to be the first Ugandan movie on Netflix, my first film is the first Ugandan film on Netflix. I can officially call myself a professional filmmaker!!! It’s dropping next week,” Ali wrote.
“Girl in the yellow jumper taking our UG to Netflix, happiness!”
“…and the entire team thanks for the hard work. I hope this opens doors for more ug stuff,” Ali added.
The film tells the story of a man who was taken hostage but was eventually able to escape. The man goes back home with an unbelievable tale to narrate.
The Ugandan film features stars such as Rehema Nanfuka, Philip Luswata, Michael Wawuyo Jr., Michael Wawuyo, Gladys Oyenbot and Maurice Kirya.
‘The girl in the yellow jumper’ was shot in Uganda in 2018.
