United States President Barack Obama and his family reportedly arrived in Hawaii for their two-week vacation on Saturday and are said to be staying at their holiday home, Hale Reeena in Kailua. The Asian inspired home boasts of 7000feet and includes numerous amenities including a spa, pool, steam room and outdoor cushy lounge chairs. This is the family’s eighth consecutive Christmas vacation at this home and it begins just as a new report, published on Thursday, showed the total cost of Obama’s vacations since taking office in January 2009, it has now hit $70.5million (Ksh.7 Billion) It became their home when their first choice, The Plantation Estate wasn’t available in 2011 and again 2012. According to Oahu Luxury Homes, the oceanfront provides a stunning view of the Moluka Islands. The property is believed to be $3,500 (Ksh.358, 205) per night to rent and has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a chef’s kitchen, a garden and even a Koi pond, according to The Telegraph. The Obama’s first choice, The Plantation Estate, can cost anywhere from $5,000 (Ksh.511,722) to $10,000 ( Ksh.1 Million)a night depending on the season. Obama must pay out of pocket for his accommodations, which add up to around $56,000 (Ksh.5.7 Million) for his entire two-week stay. According to Dailymail President Barack Obama spent day four of his luxurious two-week vacation in Hawaii hiking with family and friends and his presence did not go unnoticed. Unassuming hikers were delighted to see the President and First Lady Michelle Obama walking the Koko Head on Oahu’s southeastern side with friends on Tuesday. The Obamas arrived for the hike just before 10am after the President took an early morning trip to Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe to exercise at a gym. They finished off the day dining at an upscale Japanese restaurant after a day of hiking. The president usually spends his vacation time in Hawaii, frequenting the island’s golf courses, dining out, hiking, going to the beach and treating himself and his kids to shaved ice, a frozen dessert that looks like a snow cone. On the way to Hawaii, Obama stopped in Southern California to carry out what has become one of the grimmest rituals of his presidency: consoling the grieving relatives of victims of gun violence. Obama and his wife spent nearly three hours late Friday hearing from the loved ones of the nine men and five women killed December 2 when a married couple opened fire on the husband’s co-workers at a workplace holiday party in San Bernardino, east of Los Angeles.
