In a recorded video, Oparanya confirmed that the photos are genuine and they were taken with his 'loved one', and went on to wonder why someone would circulate them.
He also questioned the motive behind the circulation of the photos.
"I have seen someone circulating genuine photos... those are genuine photos... I don't know why someone would waste time trying to circulate them. I don't know the interest people have when you've taken a photo with your loved one," Oparanya said.
Oparanya also laughed off claims in sections of social media that he had been hospitalised after the undated photos were leaked.
He said he is in good health and enjoying his time in Mombasa.
"I have a family, a big family to protect. So those sending out fake news should stop. Here I am, I'm able to speak, I have no problem," Oparanya concluded.
The ex-governor has been on the lips of Kenyans for the better part of the week after the photos were leaked.
