Popular TikToker Nyako meets Raila Odinga, holds live session with him

The opposition Azimio la Umoja One Kenya leader Raila Odinga on Thursday addressed Kenyans on a live TikTok session with popular Germany-based TikToker Nyako.

Raila, who has never been on a TikTok Live before, and who also holds no TikTok account, appeared on Nyako's live session as the two chopped it up in a fun interaction as thousands of tuned-in viewers watched.

An upbeat Raila expressed his excitement at the opportunity to interact with Kenya's TikTok community, saying that he was optimistic of better days ahead. 

"(It's) Baba, talking to you people, are you guys okay? I'm here with a lady who has come from Germany...who tells me that she's a TikTok champion and that I need to talk to the audience of Tiktok," he says.

"I love you people. I'm very happy to make your acquaintance and I hope we shall walk together. Together, we shall succeed. We shall overcome. Aluta continua!"

Nyako then proceeded to tell Raila; "My grandfather used to be your father's best friend. They come from the same area in Bondo.”

When asked what she does for a living, she said, "I'm a news reporter, I'm a socialite, I'm an influencer, I'm a cook, I'm a philanthropist, I'm everything..."

And when asked whether she too was a wife, the room burst into laughter as Nyako said, "No, I'm not married, but I have kids..."

Nyako, who boasts of over 200k TikTok followers, appeared to have met the former Prime Minister at his Capitol Hill offices in Nairobi. 

Over the past several months, Nyako has become a powerful TikTok personality widely-loved for her barefaced character, philanthropy and feisty, no-holds-barred nature.
